11th September: Perth (North Beaches)

This is a lovely park. Large but down the bottom here there are lots of waterways. Called Karrinyup Waters, it is near a Golf Club and the waterways of this area. It was very hard to find without a map but we managed it on the second circuit. I bought a map next day!! Because there is water, there are lots of water birds here: Black Swans, Shelducks, two typs of water fowl, ducks and of course the usual crows, Peewees,Butcher Birds etc! The birds fight and squabble constantly inncluding during the night whe3n they are joined by frogs that bop and croak all night. It is very noisy but the sounds of nature are always soothing. ??

Today, April left very early and the rain went away! Poor April – it rained and blew the whole time she was here and fined up when she left!! I washed and then we ladies went shopping. It was supposed to be for groceries which we did get. But we also found a little dress shop having a sale. Lorraine can never resist a bargain and there were lots!! Both Lorraine and I bought rather treny outfits and suprisingly mine was red and black, a combination I never wear.

It was a beautiful day and so we went driving to explore the northern beaches. I liked Scarborough Beach but the surf was very rough and despite the fact that there are bronze statues of life savers, swimming is not permitted. But there is a lot of infrastructure leading to the beach which made it a very pleasant place to visit. Some of the other beaches were very nice also and it was just so lovely to be able to stroll along rather than dodging showers.
The Statue called "Watching over you":

The surf at Scarborough Beach.  No wonder no swimming is permitted!
Drinkies on the grass behind our vans!!

  1. You'll have to rename April "April-Showers"' :) Yest those beach areas are really pleasing to the eye. We are big fans of Perth I have to say, and have got to know it very well with Anne living there. We arrived at our destination (Seattle) last evening, and are having an easy day today. I picked up a most unwelcome cold in Las Vagas, so am ready to stop for a while . Take care. Saw the pics Anne put up on facebook :) Looked like you were enjoying yourselves.xx
