July: Broome
Amanda came around with Larni this
morning and we had a nice time together. I still have her wedding
photos on the notebook and we showed her those. We will copy them
onto a memory stick for her. Larni is a sweetie and she pottered
around in the red dirt quiet happily. Her mother wanted her clean to
arrive and then it didn't matter! She went into our vans and found
Gail's jewellery. (Mine is away!)
Shopping was next on the agenda: first
some air filter cleaner, then alcohol and finally haircuts. (Get the
priorities right!) My first haircut in 7 weeks!! After lunch, we
explored the jetty. It is very long with an attached walkway down
the side. Dozens of people were fishing for “queenies”
successfully. Then a large outboard came to spoil everyone's fun by
just burbling along and stopping the other side of the posts. Spoil
sports! But the water was as I remembered: clear aqua against the
white sand and red cliffs. Stunning!
Later that day we went to Cable Beach
with Amanda and Larni for drinkies and to watch the sunset. How
lovely it was! We sat and talked and didn't see much sunset but Gail
went off to photograph camels up on the beach further! It was just a
lovely day!

Pleased you are going to Cape Leveque but now we start to worry as one always does when you recommend a place to someone. Great memories of Broome. Tell Gail I hope the only things she photographed up the beach were the camels.... not the nudists!!! Sounds like the van park situation has not changed much in spite of many more being built since we were there.
